With Christmas as a time of reflection and New Years, with all the list making, I took the opportunity to think about my personal favorites in travel blogging. The following bloggers have inspired me throughout 2014 and will hopefully do the same for you in 2015.
As you might know, I’ve started blogging in 2014. Before that time I was already reading a lot of blogs myself while searching for the latest travel info. These are the ones I kept coming back to (in random order). Enjoy!
A blog from a woman unlikely to travel. Bryony talks about travel and anxiety, serious stuff written by a brave woman with an incredible sense of humor! Phobia, a post about the fear of eating delicious Vietnamese Pho in public makes me chuckle every time I read it (and I do re-read it often). I can only have respect for the way she puts up with her anxiety and I think it’s even braver to write so openly about it.
Funny, witty and stylish travel. For me, reading Sabina’s blog has been a great learning experience. Not only do I like her posts, but the way she presents herself on social media and beyond is both smart and entertaining. It’s nice to see the face behind so many travel stories. A little bit of a bloggers guru as well.
This blog I visit if I want some undisturbed travel dreaming. I love the minimalist style they have and their photography is truly out of this world! With articles about food, culture, history and interesting people from around the world, there’s something for everybody. It is a very popular blog, so I’m assuming you already know of it. If not, go check it out!
A very, very visual blog. Brooke, a brave lady who lives out of a suitcase, writes about travel, lifestyle and fashion. I admire her way of showing us her world through stunning photography. She writes a lot about blogging itself, which is interesting for me as a newcomer in the travel blogging community.
Another lady who quit her job to travel the world. British Kate blogs about living in other countries, dream destinations and she makes travel guides. While reading her blog for travel information I sometimes catch myself laughing out loud because of her funny and personal writing.
The best thing about this blog is that there’s always something to see and do, and that’s exactly what the name suggests. The Seven Oliver Twists of Backpacking has made me chuckle several times, but there’s so much more! With lots of destinations to choose from, See Something is indeed worth seeing!
An artist on the road. Candace is a writer, photographer and brilliant sketch artist. Reading her blog sometimes feels like secretly browsing through someone’s diary. Personally I didn’t know this could be so entertaining and every time I spend time on her website, I feel like I want to start drawing myself (which I can’t). A feast for the eyes!
One thing I notice is that I’m a very visual person; every blog I read, features some kind of eye candy. Not being a brilliant photographer myself, I often find myself dreaming away about being able to take stunning pictures, everywhere and all the time. I’m sure I’m not the only one who does that, but I am interested in what you as a reader or a fellow blogger find attractive when it comes to committing to someone’s blog, diary or website.
